LSU player tries to decapitate Wisconsin player

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Wisconsin player nearly loses his head after a cheap shot form an LSU lineman.

The Wisconsin Badgers and No. 5 LSU tigers are squaring off in the season opener at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers.

In the final moments of the half, LSU was marching down the field with two minutes left and trailing by two points. A big run by Leonard Fournette got the Tigers into field goal range, but he left the game immediately with an injury.

On the following play, LSU turned the ball over after a Brandon Harris pass was intercepted by Wisconsin’s D’Cota Dixon. After the play, Dixon ran around with the ball in his hand held over his head and that’s when LSU lineman Willie Allen tried to decapitate Dixon by aiming at his head.

Allen was immediately ejected for what was a dirty hit, clearly targeting the head with malicious and ill intentions. Whether any further punishments are headed Allen’s ways remains to be seen, but certainly it warrants a suspension.

The sad reality is that there will likely be no further action taken. Wisconsin would go on to win and knock off LSU, the second top-five team to fall in the day after Oklahoma was knocked off by Houston at NRG Stadium.
