LSU recruit sets Mississippi prep mark for touchdown passes

Les Miles could have used recruit Myles Brennan.

Had the deposed coach had the Mississippi prep quarterback this season, he might still be in charge in Baton Rouge.

Brennan of St. Stanisaus broke the Mississippi state high school record for career touchdown passes as he threw eight in a 70-50 victory against East Central on Friday

Per the Biloxi Sun Herald reported.

Brennan completed 41 of 45 passes for 543 yards and passed former Rock-a-Chaw Dylan Favre for all-time TD passes with the first of his eight scoring throws in the 8-4A region matchup. Brennan, who owns the Mississippi career yardage record, now has 152 career TD passes and 34 for the season.

If the name Dylan Favre sounds vaguely familiar, it is because he is the nephew of Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

But back to Brennan.

In eight games, he has thrown for 2,680 yards and 34 touchdown passes. He also has yet to throw an interception.

“He’s phenomenal,” East Central coach Seth Smith said. “He’s as good as advertised.”

Brennan was humble after his record-setting effort.

It’s a great honor and a huge accomplishment, but like I’ve said before, it’s not just a record I set by myself,” Brennan said. “It’s obviously a team record and a team accomplishment. I couldn’t be more proud of us to accomplish this goal.

“What a night.”
