What happens when the luck of the Irish comes to war with the Sports Illustrated cover jinx? Notre Dame will find out this season.

The Fighting Irish were featured on Sports Illustrated’s regional cover for its college football preview issue, and whether that is a blessing or a curse is yet to be determined.

The cover shows Notre Dame star linebacker Jaylon Smith standing next to Irish offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley with the Fighting Irish mascot crouched down in the middle.

The magazine predicted that Notre Dame will be one of four schools to make the College Football Playoff this season.
