Mandel's Heisman Top 5: BYU's QB is producing weekly 'Heisman moments'

For the second straight week, a freshman quarterback tops my Heisman Top 5. This one, however, is 22, and seems to have a magical ability to throw game-winning touchdowns.

1. Tanner Mangum, QB, BYU. Mangum has remarkably delivered two "Heisman moments" already, stunning Nebraska on a Hail Mary in Week 1, then dashing Boise State's hopes with a last-minute 35-yard heave on fourth and 7. Unbelievable. 

2. Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State. The 'Noles have all sorts of issues through two games, but Cook is not one of them. The sophomore gashed USF for 266 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries Saturday and is averaging 8.6 yard per rushing attempt through two weeks. 

3. Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama. The bulldozer added 96 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries against Middle Tennessee and now has six touchdowns in two games. That's despite netting a modest 31 combined carries.

4. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU. The Tigers' stud sophomore only got one game under his belt so far but it was an awfully good one. He carried 28 times for 159 yards and three TDs in the Tigers' 21-19 win at Mississippi State.

5. Braxton Miller, H-back, Ohio State. Miller's played two games since last week's Heisman column. This spot is more for the two 50-plus yard touchdowns in a win over Virginia Tech than the 7.3 yard average on 10 touches against Hawaii.
