Mark Dantonio has Michigan State in the College Football Playoff, and there could be a personal payoff.

The Spartans' mentor is nominated for the Maxwell Football Club's Munger Award and the Football Writers Association of America's Eddie Robinson Award. Both go to the best coach in the nation.

Dantonio's competition for the Eddie Robinson Award are Kirk Ferentz of Iowa and Dabo Sweeney of Clemson.
