Mark Helfrich on WR Darren Carrington: 'Nothing has changed'

Published Jul. 31, 2015 7:32 p.m. ET

BURBANK, Calif. -- Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington was suspended before the College Football Playoff national championship due to a failed drug test. Due to this, the NCAA may suspend Carrington for the first half of the 2015 season.

However, no news has become available on that front. Not even Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich knows what to make of it just yet.

When asked if he had any clarity on Carrington's potential suspension, Helfrich responded, "Nothing has changed. That's an interesting deal."

As reporter then asked "Prior to the first game though? The letter of the law says he’s going to be gone half the season?"

Helfrich said, "If something was going to change, we'd have to hear before. That is the process that we've gone through a couple times and nothing has changed."
