Martinez, Anderson named to Bednarik Award watch list

Senior linebackers Blake Martinez and Kevin Anderson have been named to the 2015 Bednarik Award watch list.

The Bednarik Award is given annually to the national defensive player of the year. Stanford is one of 25 schools with two or more players placed on the preliminary Bednarik Award watch list.

Martinez, a senior inside linebacker, led the Cardinal in tackles in 2014 with 102 tackles and helped guide Stanford's No. 2 scoring defense.

Anderson, a fifth-year senior from Palo Alto, plays alongside Martinez as an outside linebacker. He has 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in 2014.
