Maryland Basketball: Darryl Morsell announces final three
Maryland continues to make waves on the recruiting trail.
Mount Saint Joseph’s (Md.) guard Darryl Morsell announced his final three schools on Saturday afternoon. Dayton, Maryland, and Notre Dame made the cut for the four-star guard’s services.
Defending national champion Villanova and Virginia Tech were cut from the list of schools that Morsell was considering.

This comes less than a week after the Terrapins secured a commitment from IMG Academy (Fla.) big man Bruno Fernando.
According to 247Sports, Morsell is rated as the No. 78 overall prospects and the third-best player in the state of Maryland. He’s also being tabbed as the fourth-best combo guard in the country.
Morsell has already taken official visits to Maryland and Notre Dame. The Gaels star has an official to Dayton scheduled for Oct. 22.
He just visited College Park this past weekend along with Fernando, who committed on the spot.
Guard hasn’t exactly been a huge position of need in recent years. In fact, coach Mark Turgeon and his staff earned pledges from Anthony Cowan and Kevin Huerter in the 2016 class.
That’s without mentioning that Melo Trimble has been in the fold for the past two seasons. Dion Wiley has three more years with the program after missing the 2015-16 season with a torn meniscus.
Forward Jared Nickens is also very athletic and could slide down to the two-guard spot in a pinch.
Maryland is also heavily pursuing guards Trevon Duval (IMG Academy) and M.J. Walker (Jonesboro, Ga.) Duval just announced that he’s reopening his recruitment after previously cutting his nine list to nine schools with the Terps included.
The Terps missed out on four-star Phil Booth a few years back at Mount Saint Joseph’s. Turgeon and his staff will look to seal the deal with Morsell this time around.
