Maryland Football: Terps snag trio of commitments
The Maryland football team is getting ready for the Quick Lane Bowl, but that hasn’t stopped them from gearing up for the future.
On Sunday evening, the Terrapins secured three commitments out of the south. South Carolina defensive tackles Brandon and Breyon Gaddy announced that they have pledged to Maryland.

The Terps also earned a commitment from Southampton (Va.) three-star offensive tackle Tyran Hunt.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Maryland is now rated as the No. 15 class in the nation and remains the third-best class in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Michigan.
The Gaddy brothers are a big pull because both were previously committed to Tennessee. Breyon is a four-star prospect with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, and Michigan in addition to the Terps and Volunteers.
On the other hand, Brandon Gaddy is a three-star recruit that had offers from many similar schools, including Florida State and Georgia. The Bishop Sullivan Catholic (Va.) standouts are both ranked in the top 47 defensive tackles in the nation.
Maryland assistant Chris Beatty was responsible for recruiting the duo to College Park. The duo had just decommitted from Tennessee on Nov. 29.
The brothers were always a package deal and just went on an official visit to Maryland this weekend.
Hunt was a very different story for D.J. Durkin and his coaching staff.
According to Ahmed Ghafir of InsideMDSports, Hunt has been trending towards the Terps for a while now. The Virginia native was also considering Syracuse and Virginia, but ultimately decided on Sunday after an in-home visit that Maryland has the school for him.
Hunt did have an official visit at Duke schedule for this weekend, but ended up cancelling it. He chose the Terps over Duke, N.C. State, Syracuse, Virginia, and Virginia Tech in the end.
This was certainly a huge day for Maryland to say the least.
The Terps haven’t had a ton of talent at defensive tackle in recent years, but definitely replenished it. Azubuike Ukandu will be graduating and they lost Quinton Jefferson to the NFL the prior year.
Hunt was also a solid addition to an offensive line that will be losing Michael Dunn to graduation.
