Maryland OT gives Rutgers fourth verbal in a week
Rutgers has not quite enjoyed the recent recruiting explosion being seen at Big Ten East foes Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State this month, but the third week in June was a productive one on the recruiting trail for coach Kyle Flood.
Elijah Johnson, a three-star offensive tackle from Dematha Catholic in Maryland, committed Thursday, becoming the fourth new Scarlet Knight for the 2016 class in the span of a week.
The spree started June 19 with Brooklyn Poly Prep's Justin Morgan, a three-star prospect and the No. 1-ranked offensive tackle prospect in the state of New York.
One day later, Rutgers got a commit from Damon Hayes, a three-star cornerback from Maryland.
On June 21, Rashawn Battle of Hawley (Pa.) Wallenpaupack Area High School committed. He is a Scout.com three-star prospect and the top-rated outside linebacker in the state of Pennsylvania.
Rutgers now has 14 commits for 2016.
