McCaffrey, offensive line churning out yardage for Stanford

Running back Christian McCaffrey had the best game of his Stanford career last Saturday as he rushed for 206 yards on 30 carries and gained 303 all-purpose yards as the Cardinal beat Oregon State 42-24.

McCaffrey, who now ranks third in the country in all-puprose yards, knew that he had to step up because of the sprained ankle suffered by QB Kevin Hogan.

"With (Kevin) Hogan beat up a little bit, we knew we had to run the ball this game, so we prepared all week and the offensive line stepped up," said McCaffrey. "It's so fun to watch the big guys doing their job."

Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen was very impressed by Stanford's offensive line and said that his defense got tired late in the game.

"We absolutely got worn down," Andersen said after the game. In the second half, Stanford out-rushed the Beavers 217-0.

"The main focus was to be efficient and productive on first and second down," McCaffrey said. "We stuck to our game plan, and the productive running game opened up the passing game."
