Michigan fan's clever anti-MSU license plate backfires

Michigan football fan Craig Smith must have thought he had the perfect dig at his team's in-state rival when he ordered a license plate that reads, "MSUNO2."

Wolverines fans like to look down on the Spartans, so letting everyone on the highway know where they rank in the state made plenty of sense.... until this week when Michigan State rose to No. 2 in The Associated Press poll.

"I get a lot of honking when I go down the highway, finger signs, good banter back and forth with people in the state of Michigan," Smith told MLive.com

He does not get a break when he gets out of his car at home, either, as it turns out Smith's wife is an Ohio State fan. The Buckeyes are the only team ranked ahead of the Spartans, but that's OK with Smith.

"First, I'm a Michigan fan and second a Big Ten fan," he said. "It's outstanding that Ohio State is No. 1 and Michigan State is No. 2."
