Michigan State center Jack Allen getting noticed nationally
For the second straight year, Michigan State center Jack Allen is a finalist for the Rimington Award, which goes to the best player in the country at his position.
A senior from Illinois, Allen has already been named first-team All-Big Ten twice and was a first-team All-American last season.
In a statement from the school, MSU head coach Mark Dantonio called Allen the heart and soul of the Spartan offense.
"He’s both tough-minded and physically tough, plus he knows all of our calls," Dantonio said. "Jack has been resilient this season, bouncing back after missing two games with an ankle injury. He’s extremely athletic and possesses outstanding strength. Jack is capable of playing any position up front.”
The other two finalists are Iowa center Austin Blythe and Alabama's Ryan Kelly.
