Michigan State Football: Highlights, final score vs. Michigan
Michigan State football showed an impressive effort against Michigan on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.
We heard it all week long, Michigan was going to embarrass Michigan State football on their own turf. However, the Spartans came to play against the 7-0 Wolverines who were ranked No. 2 in the country, making it much closer than expected.

People were projected a 30-40 point blowout, but Michigan State played its heart out and nearly came away with an upset. No, it wasn’t close all game long, but the Spartans left a ton of points on the field, and that’s on the coaching staff.
In fact, the Wolverines had the best defense in the country coming in and the Spartans still rushed for 200-plus yards and had over 200 yards through the air. Michigan State didn’t quit and there’s a major reason to be excited about the future of the program.
With a majority sophomores and freshmen playing on both sides of the field, the Spartans kept the game close but came up short three times in the Wolverines’ red zone. Coming away with zero points on three trips was tough — one missed field goal and two turnovers on downs.
LJ Scott rushed for over 130 yards and continues to look like the team’s best running back and Brian Lewerke came in during the fourth quarter and was looking impressive through the air. He extended plays with his legs and gave his guys a chance to win.
Overall, there’s a reason to be proud of this team and excited for the future.
