Michigan State Football: Injury report vs. Michigan

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Michigan State football has a huge game against Michigan Saturday and here is the injury report.

It hasn’t been the start to the season Michigan State football was hoping for, but all can be avenged with a win over No. 2 Michigan in East Lansing Saturday. The Spartans are being given very little chance to come out on top, but there’s a slight chance they could shock the world.

However, Michigan State will be without some key players in Saturday’s big game and a couple of them might just be quarterbacks. There are a numbers of players out for each side, which could make this matchup interesting. Let’s take a look at who will and won’t be playing.

Here’s the injury report for both Michigan State football and Michigan:

Michigan State: DT Malik McDowell (leg, ribs), probable; LB Riley Bullough (right shoulder), probable; CB Darian Hicks (hip), probable; QB Tyler O’Connor (foot), questionable; LB Byron Bullough (undisclosed), questionable; QB Damion Terry (hand), questionable; CB Drake Martinez (undisclosed), questionable; DE Evan Jones (undisclosed), questionable; S Grayson Miller (undisclosed), questionable; S Montae Nicholson (undisclosed), questionable; S Demetrious Cox (legs), questionable; LB Jon Reschke (left ankle), out; OL David Beedle (left leg), out

Michigan: RB Drake Johnson (muscle), probable; FB Khalid Hill (undisclosed), questionable; WR Grant Perry (suspension), questionable; RB Chris Evans (head), questionable; LB Jared Wangler (suspension), questionable; WR Jack Wangler (suspension), questionable; OT Grant Newsome (knee), out; CB Jeremy Clark (knee), out; RB Kareem Walker (academics), out

What sticks out on the Michigan State side of things is that both O’Connor and Terry are questionable, potentially leaving the starting job to Brian Lewerke once again. Also, Cox and Nicholson both being questionable is concerning.

For Michigan, Khalid Hill is the team’s short-yardage king. He leads the Wolverines with eight touchdowns so he could be a missed presence as well as leading rusher Chris Evans.

Will this game be closer than people expect?
