Michigan State Football: LJ Scott named No. 1 RB moving forward
Sophomore LJ Scott was smooth as silk in Michigan State Football’s opening game against Furman.
Late in the fourth quarter, Michigan State Football was in dire need of a game sealing drive and they found it with Tyler O’Connor and L.J. Scott making the plays. It was a 12-play, 60-yard drive that took 6:49 off the clock and was reminiscent of fabled “Drive” to win the Big Ten Championship. Scott turned in his second 100-yard game of his career.

Many media members had picked Scott to the breakout candidate and he proved them correct. He ran through tackles and spun like a ballerina performing a pirouette. Madre London had been featured in the BTN show Green and White Days making huge plays yet he saw limited action, even though he played well. Also Gerald Holmes did not play. Scott has clearly taken a hold of the running back battle. Scott ran with such authority that he reminded me of Jeremy Langford.
The game was close, however, MSU appeared to gather itself and finished off Furman. Scott made plays when they counted and had a vision for the running lanes. He should be able to build on this excellent start and if he does then MSU will have another 1,000-yard rusher.
Offensive coordinator Dave Warner has already stated that while Gerald Holmes and London will see more carries than they had in game one against Furman, Scott is going to be the lead back moving forward.
