Rush was one of the most underrated defensive ends in Michigan State history and arguably the most under-appreciated player of the Mark Dantonio era.

Just how good was Rush at the collegiate level? The four-year star finished his career with 163 total tackles, 37.5 for loss and 18.5 sacks. He was consistent throughout his career with the Spartans but still went undrafted.
After a strong preseason at the outside linebacker position with the 49ers, Rush was signed to the practice squad where he’s been every since. However, the Jaguars must have seen his impressive film, signing him to the active roster.
This is great news for a kid who looked like he would be spending too much time on practice squads when he proved in the preseason that he was the real deal. In fact, he was one of the top tacklers in the league during that time.
While he’s not longer lining up as a down lineman, he’s too small for that in the NFL, he can still be disruptive with blitzes and using the techniques he learned in college to get to the quarterback.
Great news for a truly underrated kid.
