It should be an excellent day for football this Saturday. The forecast says it should be sunny and relatively warm — great football weather. Michigan State has been skidding the past six games, however, it did manage to play well against Michigan.
Here’s the weather forecast for Saturday’s game:
Weather at kickoff: 59°F, 0% chance of precipitation, 6 mph wind NE
Weather at game’s end: 67°F, 0% chance of precipitation, 6 mph wind NE
LJ Scott was rock steady rushing for over 100 yards against the stout Michigan defense. The Illini have been poor on defense this year, allowing over 194 yards on the ground. The Spartans will look to get the ground game going early and often.
However, Tyler O’Connor has alluded to this game being a hangover from Michigan week. He mentioned that it is easier “getting up” for Michigan verses the Fighting Illini. It will be interesting to see if the Spartans come out flat or start fast and fade (as they have done all year).
MSU will have more young players on the field and this game should provide excellent experience for it. If there ever was a time for the senior class to step up then this would be the game to do so. These types of games are where leaders are created, because these games are easy for teams to slack or to take it easy.
Spartans need their leaders to push their units in order for them to finally get a “W” in the win column.
