Michigan State football heads to Maryland Saturday for a Big Ten showdown that will propel the winner through the rest of the season, while the loser will continue to flounder.

The Spartans are hoping to stop the bleeding and get a ‘W’ in the win column. However, the Terrapins are on a two-game skid themselves. Maryland won four straight games to start the season, but as competition ramped up, the Terrapins have struggled. Michigan State has struggled all season long as they have been attempting to find their way.
Here’s the weather for Saturday night’s Michigan State football game:
Kickoff weather: 51°F, 0% chance of rain, 12 mph SE wind (periodic clouds)
Weather at game’s end: 47°F, 0% chance of rain, 15 mph SE wind (cloudy)
The Spartans are beginning to turn to underclassmen to infuse a spark to the offense and defense. While many freshmen, like Donnie Corley, have played well all season, MSU may look again to hand reigns of the offense to redshirt freshman Brian Lewerke. If he does start it will be his second and Lewerke has already learned much from the game experience.
This is another pivotal game for Michigan State, because if it can pull off a win it will not just be a much-needed one, but a confidence-builder as the Michigan Wolverines come to town next week.
This Maryland game will dictate how the rest of MSU’s season will play out. Can the Spartans rally? Of course, head coach Mark Dantonio knows his team and is challenging them to get better and focus. It’ll be an interesting game to watch as the drama on the field unfolds.
