Michigan State recruit who lost offer lands at Ohio State
Gavin Cupp's recruiting story, it turns out, has a happy ending.
The three-star offensive line prospect from Leipsic, Ohio, was a Michigan State pledge less than two weeks ago, but now he is headed to Ohio State.
How did that happen?
Cupp traveled to Columbus on July 24 to take part in Ohio State's Friday Night Lights camp, a move that caught Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio by surprise and caused him to rescind the player's scholarship offer.
That left Cupp, who originally committed to Michigan State in March and also had offers from the likes of Illinois, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, in limbo -- but not for long.
Ohio State offered him a scholarship last week and he announced Tuesday he had accepted.

Cupp is the 34th-ranked guard in the country nationally according to Scout.com, which still had Ohio State's class No. 1 in the country as of Tuesday despite the loss of four-star defensive end Terrell Hall one day earlier.
Cupp is the ninth player from Ohio and the fourth offensive lineman to commit to Ohio State for 2016.
