Michigan State is preparing for its second road contest of the season which also happens to be its second Big Ten matchup. The Spartans played well in their first road game against No. 18 Notre Dame, but didn’t have much luck against No. 11 Wisconsin in their first conference contest.

Hoping for better luck against a potent Indiana offense, the Spartans have plenty to work on. It all starts with the quarterback position and many are calling into question the effectiveness of Tyler O’Connor.
The senior gunslinger had a forgettable performance against Wisconsin last week, to say the least. He was 18-of-38 for 224 yards and three interceptions. Redshirt freshman Brian Lewerke came in for damage control in the fourth quarter and played relatively well, passing for 24 yards and rushing for 16.
Is Lewerke the future? Many believe so, but it’ll take a poor performance against the Hoosiers to get that era underway.
On the other hand, Indiana poses a big-time threat through the air. Michigan State’s passing defense hasn’t been great, so the Hoosiers, namely Richard Lagow, might have a field day.
Playing in Bloomington is always a tough matchup for Michigan State even though the Hoosiers haven’t really been a serious conference title contender. This game will be much closer than anticipated.
