It’s been a long season for the Spartans thus far, but they’re hoping for better luck in Saturday night’s Michigan State vs Maryland game, despite playing on the road. Starting the year 2-4 isn’t exactly what Mark Dantonio had in mind, but there’s still time to turn this around.
Maryland is led by former Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin and he’s been doing a solid job in his first season. Durkin has led the Terrapins to a 4-2 record through six games, but they, too, are on a losing skid.
Fortunately, the Spartans are making some changes on the depth chart that could help out in the win column. The quarterback situation has yet to be settled, but many believe that starting Brian Lewerke would be the best option. Tyler O’Connor would beg to differ.
Moreover, the run game and LJ Scott will need to get back on track against the Terps. The offensive line has been shuffled a bit and that might help the offense as a whole. It’ll be interesting to see if it improves against Maryland.
