Saturday night’s Michigan State vs Notre Dame game might be one of the most interesting matchups of Week 3. Both teams are looking to prove something after questionable starts to the season but only one can come out victorious.

The Spartans opened the season with a 28-13 snoozer of a victory over Furman while Notre Dame hit the road to take on Texas, losing 50-47 in double overtime. DeShone Kizer looked like a legitimate Heisman threat, finally winning the starting quarterback job for good, but Brian Kelly’s team couldn’t stop the Longhorns.

Michigan State, on the other hand, had trouble putting away the Paladins at home. The Spartans were never really in danger of losing to the FCS foe, but allowing the score to remain close throughout was an issue. Michigan State plays down to its opponent’s level more often than now.

The rivalry is making a comeback after two seasons of not seeing each other on the schedule. Michigan State and Notre Dame will be facing off in South Bend Saturday night in the 50th anniversary of the ‘Game of the Century.’
