Michigan State's Cook in discussion as top prospect for 2016 draft

Could Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook be the top pick in the 2016 draft?

NFL.com's Chad Reuter rated the Spartan No. 1 on a list of seniors with this caveat: They are rated by the interest Reuter has in watching them progress this fall.

"Over the past two seasons, Cook (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) has led the Spartans to 24 wins, thrown for nearly 6,000 yards, and tossed 46 touchdowns (versus just 14 interceptions)," Reuter wrote. "He has the prerequisite size, athleticism, anticipation, toughness, and football intelligence to excel at the next level. He hasn't cracked the 60 percent completion barrier in his career as of yet (58.1 percent last year) and has a new receiving corps for his senior year. Cook is the most intriguing senior prospect this year. If he can lead an inexperienced passing game in his final collegiate season, he'll be in line for a very high draft slot."

MSU defensive end Shilique Calhoun also made Reuter's list of 35 most intriguing seniors, though not the top 15.
