Michigan used its wacky 11-man I-formation again to score a touchdown

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Michigan’s first score was an indication of how its day would go on Saturday.

As the Wolverines prepared for a 3rd-and-goal from the Illinois three-yard line early in the first quarter, coach Jim Harbaugh decided to line his players up in the wacky 11-man I-formation that he showed off earlier in the month.

Sure enough, it worked. Jake Butt caught a shirt touchdown pass and Michigan was on its way to a 41–8 victory.
