Minnesota feeling more confident this time around

TCU scored a season-low 30 points against Minnesota last season.

And that's giving Minnesota some confidence heading into next week's season opener when the teams play Sept. 3.

"If we are sharp and on our game, I expect ourselves to have a chance to win in the fourth quarter," defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys said to twin cities.com.

Last season in Ft. Worth, TCU led 24-0 at halftime and quarterback Trevone Boykin threw for 258 yards and ran for another 92. It was the first game TCU ran its Air-Raid offense. All of TCU's touchdown drives came after getting the ball inside Minnesota's 40-yard line.

And while TCU got better as 2014 went on – finishing up 12-1 – Minnesota players and coaches are more confident, too.

"It kind of caught us off guard a little bit last year," Minnesota linebacker Jack Lynn said to twin cities com. "Coach has done a really good job with up-tempo practice. It's helping us a lot."
