Mississippi State loses OL Flowers, CB Irvin-Sills to transfers
With just over two months until the start of the 2015 season, two players reportedly are leaving Mississippi State.
Offensive lineman Kent Flowers has left the program and will attend Copiah-Lincoln Community College this fall, according to AL.com, which confirmed his enrollment with the community college.
Meanwhile, according to the Northeast Mississippi Journal, cornerback Jahmere Irvin-Sills also has transferred, but his destination is not yet known.
Flowers, a redshirt sophomore, played in six games last year as a a backup and a member of the field-goal unit. Copiah-Lincoln spokesman Cliff Furr tweeted after news of the transfer was released that Flowers "will probably be back in Maroon one day." Flowers, a former three-star recruit, would have been in line for a potentially significant increase in playing time this year given that the Bulldogs lost three starters -- totaling 114 career starts between them -- to graduation after last season.
Irvin-Sills played in nine games last season as a redshirt freshman and made 10 tackles, also in a reserve role. The former three-star recruit was a late addition to Mississippi State's 2013 recruiting class.
