Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss Game Time Announced
Mississippi State will travel to Oxford, MS to play Ole Miss in the annual Battle for the Golden Egg.
Kickoff has been set for 6:00 PM Central. It will be broadcast on ESPNU.
It’s almost time for the Egg Bowl. This year it means a lot to both teams since it’s been a pretty disappointing season on either side. With a combined record of 9-11, this year is a far cry from the last time these two met in Oxford when they had a combined record of 18-4.
Mississippi State is trying to avoid a third straight loss to the Rebels. Once Dan Mullen’s calling card when he started his tenure at MSU 3-0 vs. Ole Miss, a loss would even his record to 4-4.
If MSU is able to defeat Arkansas on Saturday, they’ll give themselves a chance to secure a bowl berth in this game. In the Mullen era, MSU is 2-0 when bowl eligibility is on the line and 2-3 when it’s not.
This game is one of the most underrated rivalries in all of college football. The level of passion and hate forms a pretty intense atmosphere for this game. The importance of gaining bragging rights among fans can’t be overstated.
Despite how important the game is to fans, MSU has not come close to matching OM’s intensity the last two years and have walked away with a loss because of it. For whatever reason, the Bulldogs have played one of their worst games in two of their best seasons against Ole Miss. Which MSU team will show up this year?
