Mississippi State vs. Samford Game Time Announced

Mississippi State will host Samford for Homecoming on October 29, 2016.

Kickoff is slated for 2:30 PM, and will be broadcast by SEC Network.

This is the annual FCS game at Davis Wade Stadium. Typically it’s considered a “rent-a-win” but they are 5-1.

At the game last week one of their players proposed to his girlfriend – the whole team was in on it:

The last time we played Samford in a major sport it didn’t end well. Two losses in the 2012 Tallahassee baseball Regional. Hopefully this game turns out much better than that one did.

This game is a “stripe out” at DWS. MSU Marketing did the stripe out for Homecoming last year and it had mixed results as the stadium was only about 80% full.

The stripe out can be really cool with a full stadium. Tennessee does it best with their checkerboard version:

I just wonder how many folks are going to show up for this game? It’s late October and the weather is nice – would State fans rather just stay at home and have some family time without making the trip to Starkville?

This team has been bad news since Week 1. I’m sure the lower sections will be filled but the upper decks may be slim pickings.

Of course, the Homecoming Queen will be announced. If you want to see that happen you better attend the game because WatchESPN’s halftime band cam doesn’t zoom in.
