About the only good thing I can possibly think of for this game is there have been some upsets and near upsets at the 11:00 SEC Network time-slot this year. MSU will need some of the magic South Alabama created against them in Week 1 to pull this one off…..because it’s a long shot.

If I were a betting man, I’d take Texas A&M at -13. This is a horrible matchup for Mississippi State. The above pic says it all: start praying for mercy.

The Aggies biggest strength is their defensive line, and they’ll be going up against the Bulldogs biggest weakness: the O-line. A&M’s second biggest strength is their WR’s and MSU’s second biggest weakness is the secondary.

So you take those match-up problems and then compound them with the lack of effort we’ve seen from MSU over the course of the season and A&M’s desire for style points as they are in the thick of the College Football Playoff standings.

It’s not a good combination. If Texas A&M doesn’t win the West (which they are pretty much relying on Auburn to beat Alabama to have a chance), they need to go 11-1 and look really good doing it…..plus some help from outside the SEC….for a shot to get in the playoff. Right now they are ranked No. 4, but they’ll slip to Washington who as it stands would win the Pac 12 and ultimately jump the Aggies.

All that said: if MSU doesn’t decide to strap it on and play with “relentless” effort on Saturday it’s going to be over really quickly. So….strap it up because I’d rather not get embarrassed at home.
