Missouri receives commitment from big-time Texas defensive back

Published Oct. 5, 2015 3:04 p.m. ET

Gary Pinkel dipped into the fertile recruiting grounds of Texas and came up with a very talented safety prospect.

2016 recruit DeMarkus Acy pledged his services to Missouri on Monday. The Dallas native opted for the Tigers over the likes of Arizona State, Oklahoma, and Texas. At 6'1", 172 pounds, the Rivals.com 3-star prospect has good size for the position. As he continues to get bigger and stronger, Acy could be a real player for the Tigers.

Pinkel has recruited the state of Texas particularly well over the years. Natives of the Lone Star State who've played at Mizzou under Pinkel include Ziggy Hood, Russell Hansbrough, Michael Sam, Chase Daniel, and Sean Weatherspoon, among others.

As evidenced by the commitment of Acy, this trend is continuing.
