Mizzou athlete Tyler Hunt nominated for Burlsworth Trophy

Mizzou running back Tyler Hunt has been nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy on Tuesday afternoon. The award recognizes the nation's top athlete beginning his (or her) career as a walk-on player.

From a statistical standpoint, Hunt is certainly a worthy candidate. On the year, he's rushed for 139 yards on 20 carries. He's also caught five passes for 201 yards. When breaking down Hunt's numbers, he leads the team with a 7.0 yards-per-carry average (for players with at least five carries).

The athlete out of Huntsville, Missouri also has the team's longest rush (72 yards) and reception (78 yards) on the season. Based upon the considerable output, it's puzzling as to why he's not utilized more -- especially when the Tigers' offense has struggled throughout the year.
