Mizzou's Pinkel not woried about the Pope's reaction to ND comments

Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel isn't afraid of the Pope.

Back in June, Pinkel was a bit critical of Notre Dame's conference standing, or lack thereof. He felt as if the Irish (or any independent team) should be playing in a conference in order to qualify for the College Football Playoff.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly recently went on the Rich Eisen Show, and was not very happy with Pinkel's take. Kelly made it a point to say how Notre Dame does not play against FCS teams (Missouri has scheduled such competition). Kelly also said, "I think that when they decide not to play 1-AA teams, then maybe we can be on an equal footing."

With the Pope's recent arrival to the United States, Pinkel was jokingly asked Wednesday afternoon in a Google Hangout about whether the Pope would "come after" Pinkel or not due to his comments about Notre Dame.

Missouri's head coach took a light-hearted approach, and didn't stoke the proverbial fire with a shot back at Kelly. Pinkel also said he never specifically mentioned Notre Dame within his initial comment.

In order to settle this, can a home-and-home be scheduled between these two programs? Maybe the Pope can even perform the ceremonial coin-flip.
