Mother of 2017 Louisville commit wants him at Georgia
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has made it a goal to get bigger along the offensive line.
With that in mind, it's no surprise the staff is targeting 2017 prospect Justin Shaffer. At 6-foot-5, 330 pounds, the Cedar Grove High School product is a massive individual. Although he has the ability to be a mauler in the run game as a smashmouth guard, Shaffer likely will start out at a tackle position.
With offers from Georgia and Michigan, Shaffer is currently a commitment to Louisville. While the Cardinals may hold "the lead" at this time, there's no question the hometown factor will play an ultimate role in Shaffer's recruitment.
In an interview with 247Sports, Shaffer relayed that his mom has a penchant for one school in particular.
"My mom always dreamed for me to go to Georgia," said Shaffer. She said that's the place for me. My dad was happy because, like I said, that's where my family wants me to go."
At this point, Smart and the Georgia staff surely hopes that the family angle wins out in this recruitment. While Shaffer does have some work to do in regards to conditioning, his upside and talent is undeniable.
