Mountaineers find late-season mean streak, but is it too little too late?
Skyler Howard is doing his part as a leader, despite what you think of him as a quarterback. A few weeks ago, Howard issued a challenge to the rest of the Mountaineers.
The West Virginia QB wanted his team to get meaner. Specifically up front. The Eers have taken that message to heart in the latter stretch of this season.
“When you're down and you go on a losing stretch like we did (in October), you've got to dig deep and bring that dog out of you,” left tackle Marquis Lucas said. “I feel like that's what not only the coaches but players like Skyler, for example, (said), letting us know he wants us to be more physical. I think I took that the hardest out of everybody. But I feel like everyone is doing a good job of showing that we can play with an edge.”
The change of attitude is nice to see, but it would have been ideal for West Virginia to show some nastiness against the class of the Big 12 earlier this season.
