Here are some MSU news and notes to start off your Thursday.

1. A.J. Jefferson was named Defensive Lineman of the Week in the SEC for his performance vs. South Carolina. In the game he had two tackles for loss and a sack. Through just two games this year he has an impressive stat line: 12 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and two quarterback hurries.

2. Nick Weatherspoon committed to Mississippi State basketball. He is Quinndary Weatherspoon’s younger brother, and considered the best player in Mississippi. He is a four or five star point guard depending on who you look at, at 6′-2″ 175 lbs. Most experts believe this sets up Ben Howland to have a big time 2018 season with the elder Weatherspoon leading the way as a junior, the top 10 recruiting class of 2016 as sophomores and the younger Weatherspoon as a freshman.

3. Mississippi State’s 2017 football schedule was announced:

As you can probably tell from those dates, the Egg Bowl has been moved to Thanksgiving again. That is true for 2017 and 2018.

    4. Dak isn’t the only former Bulldog playing in the NFL – check out what all the other guys did in Week 1.

    5. If you’re going to Baton Rouge for the game, stop by the Alumni Association’s tailgate being held at Walk’On’s (3838 Burbank Drive) from 2:30-5:00. They’ll have free appetizers so you might as well.

That’s it for now – see you in another post later today. Thanks for reading!
