Muschamp offers his recruiting philosophy at press conference

Will Muschamp is in a bit of a unique situation when it comes to recruiting at South Carolina.

While the state has produced elite talent in the past (Alshon Jeffery, Jadaveon Clowney, Marcus Lattimore), it isn't one with an incredibly huge recruiting base.

Couple that with the fact Clemson is ranked as the No. 1 team currently in the country, and Muschamp may have to be a bit creative when it comes to luring top-talent to Columbia.

Fortunately, his extensive background in the SEC should serve him well. Muschamp played at Georgia, and has coached at Auburn, LSU, and Florida. His rolodex of high school coaches from all across the Southeast portion of the country is vast. As such, Muschamp should be able to make a recruiting impact early in his tenure.

Dually, the head coach relayed the importance of fostering personal relationships -- and how the distance for a family to see their son play is immense.

Lastly, it's about fit. Does the player fit Muschamp's scheme -- regardless of his star-ranking?

It will be fascinating to see how the Gamecocks' future staff attacks the recruiting realm -- especially considering the competition it will go up against.
