N.C. State hires new offensive coordinator
On the same day the College Football Playoff Championship Game was played, N.C. State hired a new offensive coordinator it hopes can help the Wolfpack get there one day.
On Monday, N.C. State announced that former Boise State play-caller Eliah Drinkwitz will be the offensive coordinator for the Wolfpack. Drinkwitz replaces Matt Canada, who was let go by NCSU and hired by Pitt for the same role.
Drinkwitz joined the Boise State staff in 2014 and rose to offensive coordinator status after being the tight ends coach. He also served on the Auburn coaching staff from 2010-11 before joining the staff at Arkansas from 2012-13.
“Eli is one of the bright and innovative offensive minds in our game, and I’m excited to have him join our staff,” said N.C State head coach Dave Doeren in a statement. “He comes from great pedigree having worked for Gus Malzahn at both Auburn and Arkansas State, while at Boise State he worked with Brian Harsin (head coach) and Mike Sanford (former Stanford assistant and current Notre Dame OC). He has learned and been able to blend some of the most successful offensive styles in the game and he’ll bring an exciting style to NC State.”
Last season Boise State ranked in the top 15 in the nation in points per game (39.1) and total offense with over 500 yards per game.
