Nebraska Cornhuskers at Wisconsin Badgers: TV Info, Live Stream, Odds and More
Another week and another Big Ten West showdown as the Wisconsin Badgers play host to division leading Nebraska Cornhuskers. After taking down the Iowa Hawkeyes last week, Wisconsin faces a must-win against Nebraska with just four games remaining and two games back of the West leaders.
A defense that has seen more than its fair share of injuries will be without leading tackler Jack Cichy who will miss the remainder of the season due to a pectoral tear. One week after getting Vince Biegel back from foot surgery, the Badgers are once again faced with the “next man up” mantra on the defensive side of the ball. Either way, defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox has done a superb job with this group up to this point and has Wisconsin up at the top of most defensive categories, including ninth in the country in both rush defense and total defense, and fourth overall in scoring defense allowing just 14.3 points per game.
On offense the Badgers look to keep the ground game going as Corey Clement has rushed for over 100 yards the past two weeks. Clement got back on track against Ohio State rushing for 164 yards and followed that last week against Iowa with a 134 yard, one touchdown performance. What will be something to keep an eye on is if head coach Paul Chryst will use both quarterbacks Alex Hornibrook and Bart Houston like he did against the Hawkeyes. Houston came in last week in a scoreless contest to lead and eight play, 58 yard touchdown drive to break open the scoring and give the Badgers a 7-0 lead that would not relinquish. Chryst claims there is no quarterback controversy but did note that he likes how both guys play and, even though Hornibrook is the starter, Houston does deserve some playing time.
Nebraska does come into the game with a 7-0 record, but faced just one ranked opponent on the season. That was way back in week three when they defeated then 22nd-ranked Oregon 35-32. But the Cornhuskers have yet to face a defense like the Badgers and it starts a stretch where they face two ranked teams on the road as they travel to Ohio State next week. Nebraska does have a solid defense as well though, ranking 22nd in total defense and 14th in scoring defense allowing 17.7 points per game.
If you are looking for a lot of points to be scored, this will not be the game for you. It will be a physical, hard-nosed Big Ten showdown under the lights in Madison.
