Nebraska Football: Illini Latest Team To Show Support For Sam Foltz
Since the tragic passing of Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler the college football world has been showing support to the two schools and those left behind.
When the Nebraska football team took on the Fresno State Bulldogs in the season opener, Fresno declined an illegal formation penalty the Huskers were assessed because they went onto the field without a punter. Oregon placed green and yellow flowers at the 27-yard line.
Northwestern has already announced what they are going to be doing in order to honor Foltz. On Wednesday night, the Illinois special teams unit announced they are doing something special to honor Sadler and Foltz.
The unit tweeted out a picture of one of its players, wearing a t-shirt with a picture of the state of Illinois. The shirt also has the caption “more than a game” and the numbers of Sadler and Sam Foltz.

“Life as a player or a fan is more than X’s and O’s and wins and losses,” junior longsnapper Michael Martin said on his own Twitter account. “Take a moment to appreciate the people that bring you joy in life.”
The Tweet shows that while the teams who suit up on Saturdays desperately want to beat each other, they are also part of a bigger family. The college football world understands winning is very important. The lives of the kids who suit on game days are even more important.
While the passing of Sam Foltz and Mike Sadler was tragic, the Nebraska football family has found it has friends all over the country.
