Nebraska Football Latest To Offer 3-Star Cornerback

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

While the Nebraska football regular season is in full swing, the coaching staff isn’t ignoring the recruiting front.

This was shown most recently when Quran Hafiz announced on twitter that the Huskers were the latest school to offer the player a scholarship. The defensive back is a Jacksonville, Florida native that has offers from all over the country.

As of now, the player, who is a 3-star has flown under the radar from most of the power five schools, though he does have scholarship offers from Virginia Tech, Syracuse and North Carolina State.

The Big Ten in general has shown quite a bit of interest in the Florida star, with Indiana, Minnesota,  and Purdue all also being in on the defensive back. Hafiz had been an official commit to Iowa State, though it appears the attention he was getting from other schools around the country convinced him he had to look around a bit more.

He has officially decommited from the Cyclones, though he has apparently scheduled an official visit to the school. The Nebraska football team looks to be the best school on the long list of teams that have offered him a scholarship which should be an ace in the hole.

At the same time, you have to wonder if the lateness of the offer is going to come into play. At this point, Hafiz hasn’t scheduled an official visit to see what the Nebraska football team has to offer. He does have that visit to ISU scheduled for October 29, a visit to Fresno State on October 14. a visit to see the Hoosiers on October 1 and he visited Oregon State this past weekend.

Whether the Nebraska football team can manage to squeeze in an official visit will be the key to whether they can secure the commitment of the 3-star defensive back.
