Say what you will about the Big Ten conference’s selections, Pro Football Focus has a different take on Nebraska football safety Nate Gerry.

Gerry and LSU’s Jamal Adams were named to PFF’s First-Team All-American squad.

The team also has the likes of Louisville’s Lamar Jackson at quarterback, Florida State’s Delvin Cook at running back, Oklahoma receiver Dede Westbrook and Alabama defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, so Gerry is in good company.

PFF said of the senior Nebraska safety, “Gerry keeps his place here from mid-season, excelling in coverage with a PFF grade of 88.7, coming away with four interceptions and six pass breakups and impressing against the run too.”

No. 25 for the Huskers tallied 74 tackles (47 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, eight pass breakups and four interceptions despite missing the first game of the season.

The second team included Utah’s Marcus Williams and Washington’s Budda Baker.

PFF had Gerry high on its list two months ago on it’s early-season All-American team as he shared honors with Williams at that point.

The site also listed him as one of the top NFL draft prospects at his position. His inclusion was justified by PFF by saying , “One of the top-graded coverage safeties in 2014, Gerry does a nice job of working downhill when the play is in front of him and he’s a good fit for a two-high safety team. His playmaking skills have led to nine interceptions and five passes defensed over the last two years.”

FanSided’s NFL Mocks has glowing things to say about Gerry as a potential NFL draft pick.

CBS Sports currently ranks him as the No. 9 strong safety overall with a projected selection in the sixth round of the upcoming NFL Draft.
