Nebraska Football Recruiting: Football Legacy Signs Financial Aid Papers

The 2017 Nebraska football recruiting class is having a bit of an up and down week, but the Huskers received some good news on Tuesday evening.

Keyshawn Johnson, Jr., son of NFL superstar Keyshawn Johnson, has signed his financial aid paperwork taking him one step closer to officially being part of the Nebraska football team.

Earlier this week, linebacker Avery Roberts also signed his paperwork to become an early enrollee and be eligible to take part in spring practice with the full Nebraska roster.

Other early enrollees in this class include quarterback Tristan Gebbia, wide receiver Jaevon McQuitty and offensive lineman Broc Bando.

Ranked as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite Index, Johnson is also tabbed as the No. 47 player at his position and No. 38 in the state of California.

Rivals.com projects Johnson as a four-star recruit while being rated as the No. 41-best wide receiver in the country and concurs with 247Sports’ No. 38 ranking in the Golden State.

Scout.com agrees with Rivals in that Johnson is a four-star prospect ranking him as the No. 39 overall player at his position.

The service points out his areas of strength as hands and concentration, high-pointing, route-running skills and toughness. It notes elusiveness following the catch as an area to be improved upon with wide receivers coach Keith Williams.

Johnson has also played a very important role as a peer recruiter for this class and has rallied fans around the Big Red banner. This is something he’ll likely be doing until National Letter of Intent SIgning Day and beyond.
