Nebraska Football To Orange Bowl In Latest Projections
The Nebraska football team could very well be Orange Bowl bound when the smoke clears after this season.
That is the latest projections ESPN is making in what can only be considered way too early bowl projections. The projections are obviously based on the fact that the Nebraska football team is currently 5-0 and ranked 12th in the country.
It’s interesting that there was a projection a few weeks back that had the Huskers in the Rose Bowl and that projection has since slipped a bit. Of course, that projection was not made by a plurality of people working for ESPN, rather one writer who believes the team might surprise some people.
It is still interesting to see projections that indicate Nebraska would likely win the Big Ten West division over teams like Wisconsin and Iowa. Perhaps that’s because the Huskers have a bit of a leg up on both of them.
The Nebraska football team is sitting pretty at 2-0 in the conference with wins over Northwestern and Illinois. By contrast, Iowa and Wisconsin, who are considered to be the biggest challengers in the division are both 1-1.
Iowa lost last weekend to Northwestern and Wisconsin lost to Michigan. That loss looms especially large because the Badgers take on Ohio State in their next game. If Nebraska can hold serve and defeat Indiana in a couple of weeks, they would hold a full two game lead on the Badgers in the conference.
This is why Wisconsin is currently expected to be headed to the Outback Bowl and Iowa is projected to be Holiday Bowl Bound. The same projections that have the Nebraska football team headed back to the Orange Bowl have Ohio State making the College football playoff and Michigan headed to the Rose Bowl.
