New Missouri AD wants to restore Border War with Kansas

Since taking over as Missouri's athletic director, Mack Rhoades has made it a priority to bring back the Tigers' rivalry game with KU, and has in fact already spoken with Kansas AD Sheahon Zenger about it.

"We would certainly like to play [Kansas] again," Rhoades told the Kansas City Star. “I think the people that really are impacted most are our student-athletes, our coaches and our fans. They're the biggest losers in all of this."

The longtime foes had their historic rivalry come to an abrupt end when Missouri left the Big 12 for the SEC in 2011.

Kansas' athletic department seems to be open to the idea, although logistics might be difficult to work out.

"Sheahon told Mack that he would 'never say never,'" KU associate athletic director Jim Marchiony said. "But Sheahon was saying that, if it does happen, it will be years down the road."

With advance scheduling lined up for up to a decade for college football teams, a revival series between the two rivals would likely take place far down the line if it were to happen.

"It's a lot more complicated than just saying, 'We want to play again,'" Rhoades said. "They’ve gone on and have done their scheduling. We certainly have done the same."
