WHAT'S AT STAKE

The Cardinal are looking to tune up for a showdown next week at No. 20 Oregon. The Aggies get to play a ranked FBS opponent for the first time since 2009 against Boise State.

KEY MATCHUP

UC Davis D vs. Stanford QB K.J. Costello. Costello has been sharp early this season, throwing for 515 yards and five TDs in wins over San Diego State and USC. The Aggies are allowing 330.5 yards passing per game against far lesser competition.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

UC Davis: QB Jake Maier. Maier has thrown for 748 yards and four TDs in the first two games of the season but will have his hands full against a far more talented Stanford defense.

Stanford: RB Cameron Scarlett. Heisman Trophy runner-up Bryce Love is getting the day off to rest some bumps and bruises before the game against the Ducks. That should give more chances to Scarlett, who has just 12 carries for 28 yards this year. Scarlett has never had more than 17 carries or 86 yards in a game.
