No, Mark Dantonio isn't going to leave Michigan State for LSU

Contrary to all the rumors, Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio is not going to leave for LSU.

After one loss on the 2016 season, people are already beginning to panic. Michigan State was defeated by Wisconsin 30-6 and everyone is starting to think that the Spartans just aren’t very good. Mark Dantonio has tried to talk everyone down from the ledge, but people are stubborn in their ways.

Dantonio is a Michigan State lifer and has stated multiple times that East Lansing is a destination, not just the next stop. The coaching job at Michigan State has been made into a desirable one because of Coach D and still, people are spreading rumors about the head coach leaving for another program.

On Sunday afternoon, LSU’s athletic department announced that it would be parting ways with Les Miles after over a decade. Miles, a former Michigan football player, went 114-34 as head coach and that apparently wasn’t enough.

LSU hadn’t made much progress over the past few years and Miles hadn’t led LSU to an SEC title since 2011 despite being highly-ranked to start each season. In fact, the Tigers were No. 5 to start 2016, but dropped out of the rankings after losses to Wisconsin and Auburn.

Now, rumors are circulating that Mark Dantonio would be a great fit with the Tigers. People are predicting that he’s going to leave Michigan State for LSU and finish his career in the SEC.

For those who know anything about Dantonio, they’d realize this is just speculation and has no weight, in terms of factual evidence. The LSU job might be desirable, but Coach D is 60 years old, brought his family to Michigan and the last thing he wants to do is leave for a program that just fired a head coach that went 114-34 and won a national title in his 12 years.

Coach D has it made in East Lansing and it’s a place he calls home. He’s not going to end his career anywhere else. Anyone who thinks that must not realize the jobs he’s turned away while being in East Lansing.
