Notre Dame booster Tom Mendoza: Kelly believes this is his best team
Notre Dame alum and booster Tom Mendoza, the same Tom Mendoza in which Notre Dame’s business school is named after, recently spent some time with Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly and said Kelly is ecstatic about the upcoming season.
Mendoza tweeted the following: “Spent quite a bit of time with Brian Kelly two nights ago. It is clear he believes this is his best team. Loves the leadership, depth.”
Notre Dame went 8-5 last season, but returns key weapons like wide receiver Will Fuller and running back Tarean Folston, both of which are juniors.
Last year, Fuller had the best statistical season of any Notre Dame sophomore receiver, pulling in 76 catches for 1,094 yards, while his 15 TDs tied an Irish single-season record.
Folsten was nearly as dangerous. The sturdy running back rushed for 889 yards and six touchdowns and averaged 5.1 yards per carry.
The duo should help make the transition to fulltime starting quarterback a lot smoother for Malik Zaire.
