Notre Dame could get a boost on the defensive line
While Malik Zaire is not coming back this season, Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly revealed Tuesday defensive lineman Jarron Jones might be able to help the Fighting Irish in the postseason.
"Jarron is now at that stage where it's building quad and hamstring strength," Kelly said of the We think that's going to take about anywhere from 4-6 weeks with him."
That would mean Jones, who suffered a knee injury in the preseason, could return for postseason play.
He started 11 games last season before a season-ending foot injury cost him the regular season finale against USC and the bowl game against LSU.
Jones also played as a reserve in 2013 and has 60 tackles with 8.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks in his Notre Dame career.
Daniel Cage and Jerry Tillery have split time replacing Jones this season.
