Ohio St., Mich. St., Michigan unite to support 5-year-old entering hospice

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:00 p.m. ET

It takes something special to unite Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State, but that is happening Saturday.

Michigan State announced Friday night that the Buckeyes and Spartans -- who play Saturday in Columbus -- will both wear special decals on their helmets to honor a member of the Wolverines football family dealing with childhood cancer.

Chad Carr, the 5-year-old grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr, has entered hospice care about a year after it was announced he has an inoperable brain tumor.

Last week, Michigan football players wrote messages for Chad on their helmets and delivered the game ball to him after their win at Indiana.

The Wolverines will play host to the Buckeyes next weekend.
